At a meeting of the Metropolitan Committee held to-night the disqualifications rcently imposed by the Avondale Jockey Club were considered, with the result that the following were endorsed :—S. J. Lindsay (owner and trainer) of Roys.l Soult, 2 years; Mark Ryan (rider of Royal Soult), 2 years; A. Julian, 6 months; W. Peel, 13 months; P. Smith, six months. It was decided to hear the appeals of N. Cunningham, A. Whittaker, and the owner of Luoio on Thursday next. WELLINGTON R O. SUMMER ' MEETING. FIRST DAY. Per Press Association. Trentham, January 20. The weather [is fine and the attendance large. The track is in excellent .order for the first day’s races. Results:— Trentham Welter, 1 mile.—Flingot 9.2, 1; Osiris 9.9, 2; Parable, 8.10. Scratched: Master Douglas and Lucretius. A good race. Won by a nose. Time, Imin. 44 8 sth secs. Anniversary Handicap, Jl mile.— Merrie Zealand 8.6, 1; Kurawaka 8.8,2; Prism 8.8, 8. Scratched: Ikon, Swimming Belt, and De Witte. Won easily by a length. Time, Imin. 44seo.
