TREE PLANTING IN BRITAIN.

The second report of the Royal Commission appointed to investigate the subjects of the State .undertaking treeplanting declares that Stats afforestation is practicable and desirable. It is capable of temporarily employing during the winter month, 18,000 unemployed, and ultimately of employing permanently 90,000.

The Commission recommend a loan to cover the annual cost of two millions. The forests, it is stated, will prove self-supporting after 40 years, and, after 80 years will yield a nett revenue of millions. Newspapers support the proposal.
