“ MISS LANCASHIRE, LIMITED.”

Miss Florence Baines, a true-born Lancashire lass, a native of Cottonopolis, the city which gave ;England its Freetrade policy, will appear in Marten on Wednesday next for a season of one night at the Opera House. Miss Baines has conquered the whole of Australasia with her brisk, brusque, bright, breezy quips, jokes and witticisms. Miss Baines gives us something novel and refreshing, her true Lancashire accent in the farce play with music “Mis.* Lancashire, Limited.” The plot of “Miss Lancashire, Limited,”" is of the bright and breezy order, and it is unnecessary to outline' it otherwise than to say that Miss Baines, as Mary Ellen Thompson, a Lancashire lass, exchanges places for a brief period with Miss Lancashire, a wealthy lady, who calls on her guardian who desijres that his son shall marry Miss Lancashire, and the resulting episodes and incidents become too beautifully funny for pen to adequately describe. The old Lancashire song, ‘‘Ob, how cheerily I prize those Bonny Blue Eyes, the Boast of the Lancashire witches,” fits Miss Baines to a nicety, and her striking personality and winsome if apparently uncouth ways, make her' a favourite with her audience. As ‘‘Mary Ellen” she gets in some home truths, accompanied by her musical and infective laugh. Flying, off at a tangent, “Mary Ellen” deals it out to anyone who gets in her way and piquantly scores off -every incident. In her laughing song, Mies Baines not only makes a great hit, but has everyone laughing with her. Anyone suffering from insomnia' through walking the room at night with the baby, or matrimonial miseries, losses on the turf or speculation in laud, should visit Miss Baines and laugh with and at her.

In brief words it is said that nothing just equal to the brilliant and {humorous performance, of this charming comedienne has ever been seen in the Dominion before. No one should miss Miss Baines, her bright play and company, for hen visit cannot possibly be repeated. Prices 4s, 2s 6d and Is. Box plan at J. Mogridge & Co.’s.
