From Our Own Correspondent,

The annual Sunday School picnic of the Anglican Church, S.S. Simon' and St. Jude, is arranged to take place at Mr Gloyn’s farm at Rongotea, where it has been held for many years, on January 27th,* when a very large gathering is expected. The annual Church Sunday School and Parish picnic at Glen Oroua, took place on Wednesday, at Mr R. Boswell’s farm. The day was a pleasant one and a large and 'representative gathering assembled. Mr and Mrs Boswell had gone to a deal of thoughtful labour in making their beautiful grounds convenient. They were rewarded by seeing the thorough enjoyment of the large and happy ’party. The 1908, Sunday School sizes were presened by Mrs Boswell. Prizes were specially given by Mesdames Scott, Hopping, Clarke, Rucroft, Slack, Misses Sexton and H. Hopping, Mr and Mrs Brewer, “A Friend,” and the Yicar. The principal winners were as follows Class I. : Elizabeth Clarke 1, Tom Scott 2. Class II.: Alice Scott 1, Alice Clarke 2.

Attendance : Elizabeth Clarke and Alice Clarke, neither of whom had ever been absent. , Good conduct: Eric Bierre. Progress: Walter Boswell, and Reginald Boyce. Catechism : Elizabeth Clarke and Tom Scott.

An accident occurred here on Saturday evening last, when a horse attached to a trap driven by Mrs Broqke, our local postmistress, took fright and bolted, and Mrs Brooke was thrown out, having her foot and ankle hurt and being badly bruised. The injured foot was attended to and Mrs Brooke is progressing as well as can be expected. i
