FIRES.

Per Press Association Carterton, January 15,

A fire destroyed a block of three wooden shopsjn High Street at 3 o’clock this morning. The shops were occupiel by Chew, cycle merchant ; Meenikin, draper; and Catt, saddler. Insurances were £775 and the loss is at least £SOO more. The buildings were owned by W. Parker. Wellington, January 16. !? Early this morning three houses at Brooklyn were destroyed by fire. The buildings were occupied by D. Hynson, R. Geyer, and F. Haigb. Geyer’s belongings were uninsured. Haigh had an insurance of £825 in the Commercial Union on his boose, and Hynson’s furniture was insured for £IOO and the building for £350 in the State Office.

Gisborne, January 15. Knight’s creamery. Tologa Bay, has been destroyed by fire. The insurance was £260 in the State Office.
