THE EARTHQUAKE.
RENEWED SHOOKS. United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Rome, January 14. The Dote of Connaught, who has visited Messina, considers the destruction surpassed anything imaginable and it seemed as if the city had passed through a sieve like ground wheat. Light shocks were experienced early on Wednesday morning at Vienna and many points of Southern Austria, extending from Sarajevoto to Trieste. ' Among the places affected were Botzen, Meran and Pola. Shocks have been felt at Pisa, Lucea, Pistoja, Perugia, Ferrara, Verona, Reggio, nell’ Emila, Belluno and Rimini. These caused much alarm, but little damage was done, though the shocks lasted from 8 to 10 seconds. Florentines abandoned their houses and Venetians fled to the Piazza of Saint Mark.
