Per Press Association. ; Hastings, January 14. The Pakipaki' trouble has apparently ended, for the men who knocked off yesterday returned to work this morning. The strike was confined to the fellmongers who, under a new foiemau, were not allowed to smoke while working. Their demand yesterday for “ smoke - ho” was refused, as it was unprovided for in the. award, and at 8 o’clock they knocked off -work in batches of five. Particulars of terms on “which work was resumed are not available farther than that men in future will be permitted to smoke during work or allowed an interval for “smoke-ho.” . ;
