SANDON METHODIST CHURCH.

The quarterly meeting of the San—, don Methodist Church 'was held inn Rongotea last week and was attended by the Rev. D. MoNiooll (chairman), Mr D. MoArthur s student, who is assisting Mr MoNiooll, at'the Rongotea end of the Circuit, and several office-bearers. The membership returns' were 96 members, T junior members and 2 communicants. Encouraging reports were given of' the Sanson and Rongotea Sunday Schools. The income for the quarter was about £3 more than the.expenditure, thus reducing the circuit debt from £l2 to £9. Arrangements were made to pay off this balance during the quarter, it being the chairman’s desire that he should leave the Circuit free of debt.

It was reported that the Rev. George Frost, at present at Waipawa, had accepted an invitation to succeed Mr MoNiooll as superintendent of the Circuit, subject to the consent of the Conference.

Mr John Sanson was elected representative to the Conference to be held in Wellington next month. A few days before the quarterly meeting, the annual church picnic was held in the Sanson Recreation Ground and was well attended. The church funds will benefit by the picnic to the amount of £lO. One special feature of the entertainment this year was the appearance of Father Christmas, with such a selection of toys for the youngsters: that everyone of them received a present. Father Christmas (Mr Jobu Sanson) also erected a bandsome green canvas ;tent,, which proved very useful, and a swing for the children. The gathering, was favoured also with a visit fOm the ; President of the Conference, the 1 Rev. O, E. Beeoroft, of Feilding, and Mr John Oobbe, of the same town.' Amongst the attractions provided was a cricket match he--tween ladies and gentlemen, the ■ latter playing with one hand’ only. It is sad to have to report that the gentlemen were ungallant enough to > beat the ladies. The weather was beautiful—almost the only fine day of the holidays being the one on which the picnio was held.
