POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting was on Saturday. Present: Crs. R. W. Brown (chairman), H. Howie, : G. F. Smith, H. Burne, O. Bailey, R. O. Eglinton, A. A. Wagstaff. CORRESPONDENCE. From T. O. Babbage, Apiti, drawing attention to a dangerous stump overhanging the main road. —Referred to Engineer. From Director of Feilding Technical School, asking Council to nominate a member on the committee. — Refrered to Pohangina School Committee. From J. O’Donnell, 'with account of labour done on Pohangina bridge.—Referred to bridge engineer. From H. L. Osborne, Umutoi, offering 5s for right to cut grass seed on road between Umutoi and Goal Creek and 5s for that on the reserve. Accepted for road, and application for lease of reserve No. 26 be invited. ‘ From' Henry Smart, stating that it was bis> intention to secure the grass seed on the road line in front of bis property.—No action taken. From Department of Labour, re half-holiday.—Wednesday was chosen. From W. Banks, enclosing cheque for £35 as payment of contribution towards the cost of. repair of the Table Fiat Road. REPORTS. ‘ The Engineer reported that repairs, to Pohangina bridge had been completed, but owing to unfavourable weather he had.been unable to complete the road approach. The County teams were at work in the Coal Creek Riding and he expected to have the Main Ridge Road completed within a fortnight. Finnis’ track would also be open within that time. The contiacfcois for the Makoura Road still had 200 yards of metal to deliver. The collection of heavy traffic fees bad been placed in the hands of the County solicitor. A telegram was received from Mr D. Sinclair, who reported that he would have plans of the London’s Ford bridge ready in about |a fortnight. The Treasurer reported the general fund: —Dr. £292 10s 7d, loans account cr. £623 19s Id. Riding balances all debtor: Awahuri £l9 3s 3d, Coal Creek £213 10s lid, Mangaoue £96 15s sd, Mangapikopiko, £l4l 15s 2d, Pohangina £26 9s 6d, Tamaki £315 0s 6d, Umutoi £9BO 4s sd. Amount of £3186 5s 6d rates had been collected leaving £1207 8s 3d outstanding. Accounts amounting to £1479 13s 2d were passed for payment. OTHER BUSINESS. The tender of O. W. Wycherley & Son for supply of dog collars at 6d per dozen was accepted. It was resolved —
That L. T. Harland’s tender for collection of dog tax at 8d per dog be accepted. That T. A. Grammer’s tender at 2s 6d for contract 143 be accepted. That L, Cole’s tender for cutting grass seed on the Main Ridge Road, Pohangina Riding, H. Lncas’ tender for grass seed on Main Ridge Road, Coal Creek Riding, and H. J. Hyde’s for grass seed on Opawe Road and Patterson’s Spur, Tamaki Riding, and G. Hunt’s for grass seed on Mt. Richard and Makiehic, roads, be accepted. That tenders be called for 1000 yards of metal for Apiti-Norsewood Road.
