The Italian Premier’s statement that Reggio and Messina were to ba rebuilt Jiwas received with cheers from the 'Deputiea of the Chamber. A million and a quarter sterling has been granted from the Budget surplus to provide urgent needs for the reconstruction of the public buildings. The Chamber imposed a surtax on certain sources of revenue for two years. • London, January 9.
The New South Wales AgentGeneral has received the Italian Government’s warmest thanks for the generous donation to .the relief fund.
The Mansion House fund now totals £BO,OOO. Received January 11, 9.30 a.m. There are 11,600 troops in Messina and 7000 in Reggio where public moneys and doonments are being recovered from the ruins.
Stores are being withheld from refugees in order to compel them to quit the town. Mexico, January 10.
The entire West Coast of Mexico has been shaken by an earthquake and the damage caused Is severe.
