British imports for December in creased £841,000, exports declined £3,340,000, re exports increased £1,467,000 compared with the previous December. The Chronicle argues that despite a shrinkage to the extent of 102 millions compared with 1907 trade is through the worst of the depression and is now'more than holding its own. The Times doubts whether there will be any material expansion in 1909.
