The damage is estimated at £30,000. Thursday Island, January 6. A There was a very sharp earthquake shook at 9.25 on Monday night. No damage was done. Melbourne, January 5. Owing to trouble amongst members of the Postal Commission over drafting the report the chairman, Messrs Hume, Cook and Dr. Salmond have resigned. Adelaide, January 5. Constable Hyde, who was shot while attempting to arrest some men, has succumbed to his injuries. Received January 5, 10 a.m. London, January 4. The late Mr Charles Bothell’s estate is valued at £lltjooo.
