THE TRUCK ACT.

A departmental committee, recommending extension of the Truck Acts, urges the restriction of fines. It considers the “living in” system harmful on the moral side, but the evils alleged are neither so serious nor widespread as represented. It recommends, regulations. Mrs Tennant and Mr Walsh, M.P., in a minority report favour the abolition o£ “living in,” fines, and deductions.
