United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received "January 5, 10 a.m. London, January 4. Couch committed suicide under the name of Matthews. It is supposed that his real name was Breen, and that he was a Oornishman. He \ fired three times at himself with a revolver, while standing before a \ mirror in a hotel. The third shot, \ penetrated his brain. The market dinner was proceeding in the room below, but the shots were not heard. Couch was very excitable and was disappointed at the non success of the racehorse Mercutio, which he expected to win the Derby, and another big event. .The draft of thoroughbreds, of which he had charge,was consigned to Couch’s old employer.
