MINERS' MEDICAL EXAMINATION.
THE DIFFICULTY SPREADING. Per Press Association. Auckland, January 2. Miners employed by the Taupin Coal Company, Ltd., received notice on ceasing work on Thursday that they would be required to undergo medical examination before resuming work on Monday, January 4th. A meeting of Waikato Miners’ Union was held on the same evening, and the following resolution was passed to be sent to the manager: —“We object to, and will not, undergo medical examination as requested by the Taupiri Coal Company, Ltd., and furthermore we shall hold the Company responsible for our wages while we are locked out pending the decision of this matter.”
