INCENDIARY FIRES.
Per Press Association. Christchurch, June 19. Since the outbreak of the incendiary fires at the Reference Library and Masters and Son’s shop in High street, the police have been specially vigilant, and a careful examination of a cottage in Chester street, which was destroyed by ffre early this morning, revealed evidences that lead to the conclusion that it is another case of incendiarism. A number of anger holes were found in the floors, and round these the flames had burnt most fiercely. It is almost certain that the holes were bored for the purpose of providing a draught for the flames. The detectives have the matter in hand. A small factory in Tuam street, belonging to H, Sxriith, was destroyed by fire to-night. The machinery and stock were insured for .-eioO, and the building, which was owned by Waller and Son, timber merchants, for £IOO, both in the Standard office.
