ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Per Press Association. Dunedin, June 19. A young man named Dudley Hood, sou of the harbour master at New Plymouth, - was the victim of a serious accident on the steamer Kaitangata at Port Chalmers to-day. He was tending over a cross head of the circulating pump as the machinery was started and was badly crushed. He was removed to the hospital in a serious condition. Hood joined the shore staff of the Union Company on Tuesday last. Hawera, June 30. An eight-year-old bny, Leonard Good, fell into a boiler of hot water yesterday and died some hours later from shock.

Robert Smith, aged 64, of Okaiawa, a farmer, who had a rib broken and suffered other injuries in a vehicle accident, has died.
