Per Press Association. Wellington, June 19. An important decision was given to-day by Justice 'Cooper in the case Corporation of v. Mayor of Dannevirke, an action for a mandamus to compel the Mayor to put certain motions to the Council, which he had refused to do. His Honour held that the action of the Mayor in relation to the two motion was ultra vires. He made an for a mandamus, and allowed 14 for notice of appeal If notice o is given, proceedings will be stayed pending the decision of the ■Court of Appeal.
