In honour of the Duchess of Albany having laid the foundation stone, the Wesleyans have decided to call their new institution at Portsmouth, erected at a cost of £IB,OOO, the Duchess of Albany’s Sailors and Soldiers Home. Mr Smith, M.L.0., of New Zealand, in a speech on the occasion of the stone laying, said it was by participating in snch functions that the Royal family endeared themselves to the Empire. He recalled the visit of the Prince of Wales to Australasia, and the effect it had of quickening loyalty.
