~vThe growth of the National Dairy Show at Palmerston North in com•parisou with the first held some five years .ago has been a gradual and substantial development reflecting the expansion and advances made in all features of farm -work in the surrounding provinces. The entrance, hall covers 13,000 .square-feet j, and contains the working dairy; machinery, dairy plants, giljspgine's, and the like, furnished with shafting running. to 180 revolutions requiring an engine of 40-horse power to be. installed. The second 'hall-, contains 2400 -square^'feet■ -for displays of horticultural ‘/exhibits. The .third hall Covers 9000 square feet for displays of dairy factory|products, fruits, garden vegetables-, school gardens, farmers’ schobl district’s display, and home cookery; Another hall adjoining covers 3000 square-feet aud Will be utilised for the Ohampiou Utility Poultry Breed Show. Parallel with ;;these there is still another having an area of .3000 square feet iu which will be displayed farm roots, seeds aud field products. " The Department*’of Agripnltiire’s. exhibit at the dairy show will occupy a space of 3000 square .feet replete iu every respect in experimental farm work, besides features of fruit collections and other phases of the Department’s work. • The exhibition runs from the S3rd to the 36th of thisinonth, and the visitor will be amply repaid. The educational aspect of the show is pre-eminent..; The organisation "is on such llnes-fhat should stimulate dairy effort.
