Per Press Association. Auckland, June 13. Auckland Racing Club being unable to obtain permission for a special race meeting at the time of the American Fleet’s visit lias decided to drop the proposal. The Mayor of Auckland has replied to the Prime Minister, agreeing on behalf of the city to provide a flag asking Sir Joseph to furnish particulars whether the Government had fixed upon any special style. Auckland tradespeople will be instructed to receive the American currency at the rate of four shillings to the dollar, which will be redeemed at the bank of redemption.
