Per Press Association. Dunedin, Jane 8. The interrupted criminal sittings concluded to-day. Bing Sing, charged with assaulting .Si On, a compatriot,|ou March Bth, with intent to do grievous bodily harm, pleaded guilty to common assault. The plea was accepted by the Crown, adu prisoner was fined £ls. George Holmes (alias Albert Patrick Newman), a youth, charged with forgery, was ordered to come up for senteuece when called on. Wanganui, June 8. At the S.M. Court this morning Mr Haselden dismissed a charge brought against a cabdriver for procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. Thel facts weret hat defendant was given the liquor by a passenger in his cab and he did not ask for or get the passenger to procure the same. Counsel contended that defendant’s act was not one of procuring and the fact of a prohibited person being found drinking should not be sufficient evidence of bis having procured it. The Magistrate ..upheld the contention. Invercargill, June 8. A young man named George .Robinson pleaded guiltygto a charge of incest at Wairaki, and was committed to Dunedin for sentence. Palmerston N., June 8. G. W. Taylor, cab driver, has been committed for trial at the Supreme Court for alleged criminal assault on a crippled girl.
