DRAINING OF CLAY LANDS.

The meeting called to discuss the above question was not well atttended as was hoped, only about a dozen being-present. Mr Edward Newman was voted to the chair. After explaining the purpose for which the meeting had been called Mr Newman asked Mr Carson to lay before those present the information that had been gathered on the subject, Mr Gray and Mr Oldfield, the convenors, also supplying their quota of information. Considerable discussion took place on the question, after which a committee was formed to draw up a pi'ospectns to lay before the public and see if sufficient support would be promised to encourage the promoters to go on with the matter, all present promising to canvass for support. After votes of thanks to those who had supplied the information and the usual vote to the chair, the meeting adjourned to a later date.
