Through the bursting of a boiler tube on the United States crniser Tennessee, when off San Pedro, California, four men were killed and ten injured. , Received June 8, 8.43 a. in. New York, June 7. t Stoker Wood, of the Tennessee, made a gallant effort at rescue hut scalding steam overcame him and he succumbed.
Rear-Admiral Sebree narrowly escaped, having left the stokehole SO seconds earlier.
Tne accident is exciting peculiar interest owing to the abortive trial in November, 1906, of Shelby Tube Company on a charge of tricking the Government Tube Inspectors.
