APITI NOTES.
From Onr Own Correspondent. Whilst riding home on Wednesday afternoon Miss Maggie Strahan met with a serious accident. The horse stumbled through becoming tangled in a piece of wire, and she was thrown off. A broken collarbone was the result. Dr. Gregory was soon in attendance and set the fracture. Owing to lack of railway facilities there is great difficulty in procuring a lady instructor for the school. A 37-mile journey by coach does not appeal to the average teacher, even if a tempting salary is offered. Miss Mountfort from the Goal Creek school is acting pro tem. The Young Men’s Social Club is being well patronised, A committee was elected on Monday night, consisting of Messrs ,7. Deoke (chairman), P. Shirley (secretary), P. Rnssell, F. S. Bum bold, P. Guy and J. Kidd. The Club is open every week day night, and is fitted np very comfortably. The Apiti Golf Club opened the season on Wednesday, utilising the domain and a few ad joining sections. A successful season is anticipated.
