A TERRIFIC GALE.

Per Press Association. Taihape, June 5. Ohakune reports a terrific gale last night, trees and tents being blown down all over the district. The gale is still raging, rendering it dangerous to go on the roads through falling trees. Many narrow escapes are reported. Trees are lying across the road to Horopito and gangs cf men are employed in clearing it.
