A lady and gentleman at Manchester, who were about to start for Liverpool, deposited in the guard’s van four packages. The guard himself did not see them deposited, and shortly afterwards another lady informed the guard that she was compelled to postpone her journey, and obtained from him the largest of the four, containing twenty thousand pounds worth" of securities and jewellery. The owners discovered their loss at Warrington, The woman was arrested in Liverpool in possession of the package, but declined to reveal her identity.
