."Wellington Ma^SO. Ivan Black" was charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day that he did on 24th April commence “a scheme by which prizes of money are gained by a mode of chance. The Chief Detective stated that defendant was engaged in promoting a sweep including twenty-five thousand membem on Wanganui Steeplechase. For selling tickets several persons were fined last week. A fine of £lO and costs was imposed in the present case by Mr Riddell, S.M.
