FEILDING BRANCH. A mooting “of the committee was held yesterday, Mr H. J. Booth being in the chair, in order to make arrangements for the Conference on tho~26th inst. . .. A letter was received from the Hon. McNab, Minister of Lauds, acknowledging invitation to Froyincial Conference, and stating be was unable definitely to accept. Mr John Ritchie, Secretary of "Agriculture Department, also wrote stating he would attend the Conference if possible. It was decided to engage the Foresters’ Hall for the Conference and the Oddfellows’ Hall for the dinner, on the Wednesday night. It was estimated l/yat there would be 40 delegates, ; ; ni’iie distinguished guests, consist! -g/of the Minister of Lands, Secretary of Agricultural Department, Mr F. Y. Lethbridge, ' M.P., Mr John Stevens, M.P., Mr E. O. Bruce, the Mayor of Feilcliug, President of A,, aud P. Association, Chairman of Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Manawatu A. and P. Association. The price of the tickets was fixed at 7s 6d. Messrs Booth, Campbell, and Atkinson were appointed a committee to arrange the toast list aud for music. . was accepted. Discussing branch matters, the opinion was expressed that the rooms leased were of little value as farmers did not make use of them, and it was decided to ask Mr Darragh to terminate the tenancy, and failing this that ?an effort be made to snb-lease them. The Secretary seated that remits 26 and 27 had been copied into the order papers from the newspapers. That explained their appearance there previous to having been dealt with by the branch. In proposing the adoption of the remit “That Government he asked to set aside a suitable area on the Main Trunk Line for an agricultural college for the North Islnad,’’ Mr G. Wheeler said it did not matter where the land was set aside, providing the endowment was sufficient as its revenue could be used for the establishment of such a college in the most suitable locality. This remit w&s adopted and it was decided to withdraw No. 27 re establishment of agriculture school ou the site offered by Mr Lethbridge for a dairy school.
