EMPLOYERS’ ASSOCIATION.
Press Association. Dunedin, May 15. A meeting of the Otago Employers’ Association was held to-day. A telegram was received |froxn the secretary of the Advisory Board of the Employers’ Federation in Wellington, suggesting that, as the Minister of Labour had undertaken to bring in amended legislation for the purpose of preventing the aiding and abetting of strikes, the Federation refrain from making a test case in the meantime.
After a full discussion, the following resolution was carried, and will be forwarded to the Federation “That the Minister’s assurance be accepted, and that the Federation retrain from taking the proposed proceedings on the understanding that in the event of adequate legislation not being passed, and another strike occurring, the Government will take proceedings to test the existing law against the men taking part in such strikes, and unions or individuals contributing money to enable them to carry on strikes, or for the relieving of their families. ’ ’.
