A number of accounts were received from patients who had been treated at the Hospital. MATRON’S REPORT. The matron reported as Jfollows : Number of patients in on April Ist, 40; admitted during the mouth, 37 ; discharged, 41; in on May Ist, 36. CONSUMPTIVE ANNEXES. Mr J. G. Wilson reported that, accompanied by Drs. Frengley and Mason and Mr Rutherfurd, he had visited the Hospital for the purpose of inspecting the various sites in connection with the consumptive annexes. Dr. Mason pointed out that the annexes could be best administered from the Hospital, and they came to the conclusion that the site immediately at the back was the best, as it was close to the kitchen and other offices, besides tbeiug handy for the nurses. It was resolved to leave the matter in abeyance until Dr. was further interviewed. Dr. Frengley afterwards waited on the Board, and stated he had drawn up a plan showing accommodation for four beds in a single shelter, also a one-bed ward for patients who were very ill, and an open-air dining-room. Sanitary ar rangements, etc., were also provided; everything to be connected by a little corridor at'the back. The idea, he stated, was to have it constructed so that they could remove the front wall, and to have French doors that would open out so that the patient could be pushed outside without any trouble. The sanitary accommodation was placed in such a position as to allow for the addition of another four wards, should it be found necessary. An important point in connection with the plan was a patient’s scullery, where the patients could wash up their own utensils. Special cupboards weie also provided lor patient’s clothes. He considered that the interior should have a lining that was enamelfinished in the chief rooms, and the balance should be lined with boards. It was essential also to have windows such as would make the rooms reasonably light. The foundations should be"at least three feet high on account of the damp nature of the ground. The buildings should be turned north-north-east, so that all portions would get the sun at different times duirug the day.
