Received May 14, 10.5 a.m. Adelaide, May 14. The Adelaide Gup resulted —Destihist 1, Enchanted States 1 2., Dyed Garments 3. There were 17|starters. Enchanted States led into the straight, but Destinist came away and won comfortably by a length and a half. There was a similar distance between second and third. Time, 2min 54sec. BETTING LEGISLATION. New York, May 13. It is expected that racecourse betting will be abolished in Louisiana. Per Press Association. Wellington, May 13. The racehorse Elevation, owned and raced by Mr Bidwill, of Masterton, which broke down badly while in training in Sydney, arrived in Wellington to-day by the steamer Ulimaroa. He lias to some extent recovered from his weakness, and it is the hope of his trainer (Farmer) to pull him together and get a good race or two out of him next season.
