A gold-crowned tooth found in the debris of the farmhouse is believed to have belonged to Mrs Guinness, indicating that she perished in the fire.
Two dozen surgical scissors, two surgical knives, and a dirk were found among the ashes in the cellar. It is believed these were used to murder and dismember the victims. Receivd May 14, 8.30 a.m. * New York, May 13.
Lamphere frequently purchased chloral. He declared that Mrs Guinness in 1907 proposed that he should marry her after insuring his life, but the marriage was postponed. There is gieat excitement in Norway owing to the identified victims including Andrew Heldgren, a Norwegian.
Mrs Guinness made a will the day before the fire bequeathing £4500 to a Norwegian Orphanage. Lamnhere’s counsel declared that initials on rings found with the tooth suggested that they possibly belonged to the first Mrs Guinness. He intended to prove that the latter was lured to the farm and incinerated with three children (as cabled seven children) who. were entrusted to Guinness, who was a hahy farmer.
