ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Press Association. "y Nelson, May 13. George Lock, an old resident formerly an ironmoulder, but in his old age a market gardener, died suddenly of heart failure at the breakfast table this morning. Naiper, May 13. John Tracey, aged 73, a wellkuewu resident of Taradale and formerly road overseer for the Hawke’s Bay County Council, was found dead this morning on a sofa at a neighbour’s house, where he had stayed for the night. Auckland, May 18. Inspector (Jnlleu has received a telegram from the constable at Raweue reporting the death of an 11-year-old boy named Maitera [Martin Neira, who was kicked by a horse at Waimamaku (Hokiauga) on Monday. The lad died in the Rawene Hospital yesterday. Ashburton, May 14.
A young married woman named Mrs Heriot, wife of a Papanui resident, who is employed in his father’s store, committed suicide last night by hanging herself to a tree in the farm orchard of a relative named J. Evans, whom she was visiting at Spread Eagle, 16 miles form Ashburton. Deceased retired to bed as usual last night, but later lier absence was discovered through the cries of her two young children. Several hours’ search failed to reveal her whereabouts but at daybreak the body was found'suspended from a tree quite dead. No reason is assigned for the deed. Police are investigating the matter and an inquest will he held. Blenheim, May 14.
A young married man named Owen McHale, a crack half back, a Marlborough Corporation employee, was accidentally killed at Riverlauds when out shooting last evening. He loaded a gun for a swan, failed to get a shot, and was strapping the weapon to his bicycle, when the charge exploded lodging in his groin. He never recovered consciousness and died this morning at 10.30.
