FARMERS’ UNION.

RONGOTEA BRANCH,

The annual meeting of the branch was held in Hall on May 2nd. There was a fair attendance. Mr H. H. Hunt presided. The report and balance-sheet was considered very satisfactory, showing a credit balance Sjf £5 JBs o}4d. The nominal roll is 93, and 50 members have paid in to date. The report and balance-sheet was, on the motion of Mr H. H. Hunt, seconded by Mr E. B. McKenzie, adopted. The following members were elected officers and executive for the ensuing year:—Chairman, Mr H. H. Hunt; vice-chairman, Mr J. Gilford ; secretary, Mr A. (J. Perry; auditor, Mr Carl Anderson; executive, Messrs H. H. Hunt, R. 3. McKenzie, T. P. Clark, P. Richmond, J. Broadbelt, G. Philps, A. C. Perry. T. Gilford, T. McKenzie, J. Hewscu, E. C. O’Neal, Carl Anderson, J. Limwden; and SV. Ifavis. Mr R. B. McKenzie was 'appointed delegate to , the co. Am mice. With regard to proposed amendment jo levies it was resolved to adhere to old rule JO. ft was agreed that members of toe Colonial Provincial Executives and delegates bo 1

entitled, to reasonable travelling allowances. The remaining clauses of the circular of March 27th were agreed to. The branch subscription was fixed at 6s per £IOOO of rateable value and Is extra for each £IOOO or part thereof up to a maximum subscription of £2. The following remits wore agreed to:—No. 1: That a special levy of Is per member of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union be collected for the purpose of creating an emergency fund.

No. 2: That a form of books be decided on by the Colonial' Executive and each branch be supplied at cost price. No. 3; That the practice of trimming skins before offering for sale by auction be objected to by the Executive.

No. 4; That the custom of deducting draft from wool ho objected to by the Executive. No. 5 : That all land planted with trees be exempt from taxation.
