Per Press Association. Dunedin, May 9. The Burnside trouble which only concerned seven or eight men employed in the freezing chamber, has been amicably settled. This morning representatives of Christchurch Meat Company interviewed the men and_ agreed to pay Is. 3d an hour ordinary and Is 5d overtime, instead of Is The higher rates are those granted under the award made this year in the North. The men here are not working tinder any award of the Arbitration Act, bat the Company on ascertaining that higher rates were paid elsewhere agreed to the men’s demand. As far as can he ascertained there was no idea among the men of a general strike.
