SOUTH AFRICA.

THE PRETORIA CONFERENCE.

Press Association —Copyright* R eceived May 8, 8.10 a.m. Pretoria, May 7. At the Pretoria Conference during the debate on the customs question, the Cape and Oraugia delegates for the sake of uniformity acquiesced in the continunance of preference to Britain, reserving themselves the right to raise objections later. It is apparent that the Conference is indisposed unnecessarily to dispute existing arrangements pending the progress of the movement for closer union.

The Times’ Capetown correspondent reports that visitors from the Transvaal declare that the feeling against Capetown being chosen as the Federal capital has almost gone. General Botha is believed to favour Capetown.
