THE OPIUM TRAFFIC,
Press Association —Copyright. London, May 7. In the House of Commons Mr Johnson’s resolution urging the Government to take steps to speedily terminate the licensing of opium dens in the Grown colonies was accepted by the Government and unanimously agreed to.
Earl Grey emphasised that remarkable results of the right kind would he achieved by China in a very short space of time. In the House of Commons the Port of London Bill was read a second time without division.
Yiscount Morley, on taking his seat in the House of Lords, read an affirmation. This is the first time that an affirmation has been made in the House of Lords. The affirmation was read somewhat inaudibly, and it was generally supposed that Lord Morley had taken the usual bath.
