THE MURRURUNDI ACCIDENT

CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE,

Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, May 6,

The Board appointed to inquire into the Murrurumli railway accident found that the responsibility rested with the Dwyer, and Acting-Signaman Gibson, who were guilty of gross negligence. The Board’s opinion was that the home signal was not placed at “Danger” after the arrival of the division train until after the accident.

Notwithstanding the evidence of Gibson and the shunter to that effect, the Board was satisfied that the homo signal was in good working order up to the time of the arrival of the first division train.

The Board makes certain recommendations with the view of improving the shunting signalling at Mnrrumndi.
