HAWKE’S BAY MEETING. FIRST DAY. Per Press Association. Napier, May 6. Rain set in at an early hour and is. still falling steadily. It- is unpromising for the Races which have not been postponed. The Jockey Club ‘ met again and decided to postpone the meeting un-til'to-morrow owing to some threatening to scratch. Bushranger has been scratched for the Louglands Hurdles and Iranua for all engagements. MARLBOROUGH MEETING.
Blenheim, May 6. There is showery weather for the M. RO.. Meeting to-day with a fair attendance. Results:
Hack Hurdles. —Snip 1, Fretwork 2, The Voucher 3. Won by two lengths Scratched ; Jolly Roger and Oblivion. Lerida was "left at the post. Time, 2min 57sec. Maiden Hack": Glen 1, Mania 2, Curator 3. Scratched: Oyzczor, Llauweru, Hinerangi and Roosevelt. Won easily. Time, imin 6sec. Opawa Welter: Hillspring 1, Diplomatic 2, Kelso 3. Scratched: White Lie and Wailethe. ■ Won easily. Time, Imin 33sec. MARTON JOCKEY CLUB. The following have been nominated for the four vacancies on the stewards and committee ;—Messrs J. G. Barthrop, John Hammond, E. W. Broad, A. H. Bill, W. J. Gray, W. Meldrum. A. R. Nenmann, E. Read, T. T. Watt, P. Vvotton, L. M. Taverner. Messrs A. E. Neumann. W. J. Gray,', B. Read, and T. T. Watt are the retiring stewards. The election will taka place at the annual general meeting to be held on the 19th May.
