Press Association —Copyright. Received May 6, 10.28 a.m. Melbourne, May 6. Deakin, questioned in respect to the New Hebrides, stated that he had sent thejfollowing message to the Colonial Office :—“Ministers are privately ipformed that the French member of the Joint Court for the New Hebrides has been chosen, and is now in the group studying local conditions. Obviously'ttliis gives him a great advantage unless the British representative is appointed at once.” On March 16th he received notice that the appointment of the British Judge would be made as soon as possible.
