ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

The police inspector is advised by telegraph from Havelock of a fatal accident having occurred yesterday morning at Cauvasstown, about 5 miles from Havelock, the victim being Rasmussen Simonsen, 63 years of age, a resident of Oanvasstown. Simonsen was driving a vehicle, and in trying to pass a" timber waggon on a narrow road collided and was thrown under the waggon, the wheels passing over his chest. He was killed instantly. Wellington, May 2. Information was received at about ten this morning that two male patients in the Porirua Mental Hospital, who wore working in the grounds attached to the institution, drank some tobacco solution used for spraying plants. One of the men— Jeremiah Honohen, aged 46, succumbed, but the medical staff saved the other one’s life.
Auckland, May S. Henry Stanley, injured in the Maramara coal mine, aged 25, died in the hospital yesterday.
