There was beautiful weather for the concluding day of the autumn meeting. Between 4000 and 5000 were present. The sura of £15,650 was put through to-day, making £27,124 for the meeting, as against £38,764 last year. Twelve bookmakers were licensed inside, and nineteen outside. Results : ■
Hurdles, IX-i uiies: Repulse 1, Royal Blue 3. To Kaiuui 3. Ail started. After going half a mile Repulse took charge and was never again headed, winning easily by half a length. Time, 2miu uOsec. Hutt Handicap, one mile; Clanchattan 1, Kuravvaka 3, Moscow 8. All started, but Sea King. Toa Tuhi was first out but soon died away to the rear, leaving Kurawaka and Olauoliattau to_ carry on the running and the pair fought out a good finish, Olauchattan winning by a head, Moscow three lengths away.' Time, Imiu 44sec. Muritai Hack seven furlongs : Wailethe 1, Taitoke 2, King Post 3. Also ran : Wharekura and Coralie. Won easily by a length and a half. Autumn Handicap, _ miles: Tangimoana 1, White Lie 2, Marguerite's. Also ran ; Moloch, Gazeley, Stratagem, San Julie, and Garissima. A splendid race. Garissima led into tne straight, followed by Marguerite, but here Tangimoana, who had been lying fourth, shot through and won by a length, a length and a half separating the second and third. Time, 2min 10 l-ssee. New Zealand St. Leger, i% miles: Signor 1, All Red 2, Gieuculiooh 3. Also started : Gold Orest and The Libyan. Signor took charge alter traversing half the distance. Gold Orest, the favourite, got up near to the leader before the straight was entered, but soon died away again, leaving Signor to win easily by three lengths, a length between second and third. Time, 3min Ssec. Pacific Handicap, 5 furlongs; Gipsy Belle 1, Mon Ami 2, Moriarty 3. Only starters. Won in a canter by three lengths. Time, Imin 3 2-ssec.
Suburban Handicap, six furlongs: Aboriginal 1, Motoa 2, Ballarat 3. Also ran : Suubonnet, Kitcheumaid, and All Guns. Aboriginal jumped away with the load and was never headed, winning by a length. Time, Ira in 16 3-ssec. Belmont Hack Handicap: Penates 1, Sir Frisco 2, £Yosami 3. Also ran: Blue Bell and| Blue Ribbon. Penates came in the straight and won by a length and a half. Time, Imin 17 l-ssec. AVONDALE MEETING. • SECOND DAY, Auckland, May 2. The weather is fine and there is a good attendance. Results : Maiden Hurdles: Landlock 1, Montigo 2, Miss Crispin 3. Scratched: Paritutu, Freemount, Kapakapu and English. Y. T on easily. Time, Bmin ISsec. Flying Handicap : Mighty Atom 1, Stylish 2, Kirsty 3. Scratched : Tui Cakobau and Frederick. Won by two lengths. Time, 50sec. Pony Handicap: Imprimus 1, Octoroon 2. Ngakapa 3. Scratched : Banchee. Won easily. Time, Imin 4sec. Autumn Handicap; Leonator 1, Miss Winnie 2, Certainty 3. The tracks bore a very’busy appearance this moruing. The plough was in good order and some good gallops were done in view of Wednesday’s meeting. Ikon and Grand Slam went ten furlongs, the former finishing in front in 2min 16sec. Ikon walked off lame, but is it not known whether it is serious. Niwaru finished in front of Esparto over sis furlongs. Seaton Dale, Robin Link and Prize Bloom finished together over sis furlongs. Erl King held Lamsdorff safe atlthe end of sis furlongs in Imin Bsac. Mystification started from the mile and a quarter post accompanied by Remission for the first part, Respite bringing him home. Mystification did the distance in 2miu 7sec. Ruabou and Reservoir did once round in liniu 47flcc, the former finishing in front, and Waipu and Pushful took Imin 48soo over a similar distance. Alice and Comedian accomplished a similar "task. Gqld Field was too good for Mv Darling over five furlongs rim in Imin 7seo. Bobrikoff and Tariua went sis furlongs in I m lit lUseo, the former having all the best of it. King Billy easily held Aborigine safe over sis furlongs in Imin ISsee, being tho best gallop of the morning. Blank Reynard and Winder\veh i v.nre given a round over the hurdles, the lormer giving the host display, Mata puna, Maku and Conumuider did unco round over the sticks, the hitter finishing several lengths behind at the finish, Dan Loiiu gave a hotter display than he has
done lately. Kaipetipeti, Faro and Papatu were sent over the country, the later hitting some fences hard. May 4, ; Ikon was given walking exercise this morning, during which she did no show sigugs of lameness, hut she cannot bear the least pressure on her shoulder. It is considered there is a very remote chance of her seeing the post in the Hawke’s Bay Onp.
