SHOOTING.
MANCHESTER RIFLES. The above corps fired the fourth competition for the company Belt ate Feildiug on Saturday. At 500 yards the wind was “Trentham at itsworst.” and Captain Barltrop was. the only man who got on a good score. Wind was still somewhat erratic at 600 yards, but at 700 yards; the conditions were much better. The scoring was poor throughout, the highest score being two underiuners. The conditions were seven, shots at each range. Scores:— FIRST GLASS.
The fifth and final competition, ate 200, 500 and 600 yards, will be fired on Saturday, 16th inst., and is a compulsory counter. There are four competitions one of five to count, aud the following is the position of the competitors, counting the three best scores :—Maybe w 260. Barltrop 255, Belk 248, L. Pleasants 224, F. Pleasants 220, Trask 213 (in the first class); Blnnden 154, Jones 136 (in the second class.) FEILDING MOUNTED RIFLES. The Feilding Mounted Rifles fired a match on Saturday for Sergt. - Major Younger’s gold medal. A second prize of a case- of pipes was presented by Capt. Sorensen. The conditions were seven shots at each range. Shooting was ,poor in comparison to previous competitions. Lieutenant Sandliauds, the scratch man, put on 91. Sergt.-Major Younger took part but did not compete for the prize. Results:—
