LAND BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Wellington Laud Board was held on Thursday. There were present : The Commissioner of Grown Lands (Mr J. Strauchon), Messrs A. Reese, J. Dawson, J.“M. A’Court, and O. J. Canton.

The ballot for section 42, block 10, Kaitieke, will be postponed until the applicants supply the required information as to whether they are landless.

The Crown Lands Ranger will value section 2, block 8, Makotuku, the fee simple of which W, F. Ellis desires to purchase. The following titles were approved : Section 3, block 3, Mangawhero, Mrs A. E,. Higgle (cash). J. H. Carter’s application to transfer section 27, Rakautoru, to P. J. Noble was approved. T. J. Letford’s application to transfer section 9, Pakihikura Village Settlement, to William Witts was refused, the latter being ineligible to hold the section addition to his present holding. W. *H. B. Smith’s application to transfer section 8, blcok“7, Pohangiua, to W. S. Badger was favourably reported on and approved; also G. S. Gould’s application to transfer sections 193, 194 and 195, Raotihi Village Settlement, to Miss G, Gibson.

Mrs M. Craig’s application to transfer section 11, block 15, Ngamatoa, to Miss L.Peat, was provisionally approved; also M. Hasler’s application to transfer section 4, block 4, Puketoi, to John McDavitt. A report will be obtained on James Gordon’s application to transfer section 81, Manuuni Village Settlement, to Thomas McKean, and on A. H. Barsby’s application to sub-divide section part 2 of 27, Taibape Village Settlement, and transfer a portion' ro Andrew Thompson. TRANSFERS APPROVED. R Pearce’s application to sublet part of section 63, block 15, Raugitoto, to W. Dymock and Co. and the Christchurch Meat Co., for trucking yards was approved. John Fisher was permitted to sublease section 21, Manunui Village Settlement, for twelve months, he having obtained employment. The decision of November 29th, 1906, approving the conversion of lease of section 2, block 10, Kaitieke, to lease in perpetuity was rescinded. It was resolved to grant the milling rights on part of run 25, block 7, Maofcuu, on the usual terms to the trustees of the late E. McDounsl. A. Pearce’s application for a mill site at Owhango and cutting rights over a large area in the vicinity, was declined. The timber is not at present in the market and when it is it will be open for public competition.
