ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
I Per Press Association. I Nelson, April 16. I William Dapp, farmer at Baton, I was found dead in his hop kiln last I Sunday. Two workmen intending I to leave their swags at the kiln saw I the body on opening the door. At I the inquest a verdict was returned I that death was due to valvular I disease ofthe heart. Deceased was I aged 64 and survived his late wife I only a few months. I Dunedin, April 18. I At tbs inquest on driver J. Logee, I killed on the train on Thursday I night, the chief witness said that I deceased was crossing from one carE riage to another when he I fell between the two. Deceased had I bad no drink whatever. The verdict I was accidental death. I Gisborne, April 18. I At the inquest on Catherine Hol- [ lier, who died ■while under chloroI form, the verdict was that no blame [ was attached to anyone. Dr. Collins said in his opinion the cause of death was inhibition of the heart’s action, accelerated by her nervous j condition rather than the anaesthetic. I The Coroner said it appeared to be one of those cases where death did I occur despite all reasonable and oroper precautions having been ' taken. Auckland, April 18. Ah Imperial pensioner, Thomas Briston, died suddenly while .sweeping his bedroom. Taihape, April 18. A three-year-old child of Mrs Woolnough, postmistress at _ Torere, died of injuries from burning, received during its mother’s absence.
