BLACKMAILER’S THREATS TO A MILLIONAIRE.
Berlin, February 33. Germany is being searched for a blackmailer who resorted to terrible •threats to extort hundreds of thousands of pounds from a Munich millionaire manufacturer named Ludowici. The millionaire received a letter a few days ago signed Josef Maier, claring that unless he deposited -£SOOO at an appointed spot and refrained from asking the police to catch the writer of the letter he would undergo the following experience : “To convince you of my seriousness,” said the writer, “I shall cause the death of one of your children. I shall then make fresh money ■demands from you, but this time for -£IOO,OOO. If you still remain_ obdurate I shall remove another of your children, demanding each time an ■additional £50,000, and I shall pursue this method until your entire family is wiped out and your resistance broken. ”
