EMPLOYMENT OF STRIKERS

• .Mr T. Pryor, the secretary of the Employers’ Association, wired to the Hon J. A. . Millar, on Wednesday, protesting "against the employment of some of the Blackball strikers on Government works, to which Mr Miliar replied that he had made enquires, and found that the men employed had been against the strike, aud were married men, and the Agent had put them on unknown to the Department. Instructions had been issued that none of the strikers, or those who had been employed about the mine, were to be employed about the mine, were to be employed on Government works. Mr Pryor thanked the Minister.
EMPLOYERS’ FEDERATION VIEWS. Timaru, April 17. Mr W. Pryor, oragnising secretary of the .New Zealand Employers’ Federation, is visiting Timaru today. He states that the Federation had been urged to take a test action against Unions for aiding and abetting the Blackball strike. The Federation could not institute proceedings as only a party to a dispute can do this, but if the Blackball Company institute such proceedings the Federation is prepared to employ Counsel and bear the expense of this offer, which lias been made to the " Company, and a reply was expected in a day or two.
