Mr Hales has abandoned his candidature for Manchester and will support Mr Hicks. Irving, a Socialist candidate, will stand. CHURCHILL’S HUMOUR. Mr Churchill, in a vigorous speech at Manchester, declared that his defeat would be a serious blow to freetrade, but would not cause the Government to resign. Mr Churchill, in reply to Suffragettes, said he favoured woman’s suffrage.
