At the inquiry into the loss of the Bega, passengers gave evidence that the ship had a list when she left the wharf at Tathra. One of the boats -was very leaky, and the only bailer was a boot and there ’.vas difficulty in keeping her afloat. One passenger deposed to being handed a knife to cut the painter of the women’s boat. Other evidence showed that the vessel was carrying less cargo than usual, aud that it was well stowed.
